Hello hello!

I'm still alive, promise!

I haven't disappeared, my heads just been full of Christmas crochet projects, clear-outs  trying to sort out my life, tailoring courses, oh and a whole career change and adjusting to a new job. Hectic indeed, but I'm glad to say I've come out the other side feeling slightly more organised and perhaps a little more on top of things again. Fingers crossed anyways!

I've got so many exciting things to share with you, and can't wait to get things properly going next year. I'm toying with the idea of setting up some sort of crochet-y project on the side to see if I could actually make a go of it and earn some extra pennies. Still in the planning stages, but it will be along the lines of vintage inspired crochet accessories and clothing....ooooh! But here's a little sneak peek at what I've been making these last weeks:

I've also successfully passed my Occupational Psychology course, woop! My first effort at distance learning.

I've also spotted myself in the November issue of Vintage Explorer, thanks to the lovely feature on local vintage Photographer Mat Keller. This photo was taken a few years ago, how I wish I could stay 22 forever, hah. Also spotted a lot of familiar faces I didn't realise were also part of the SouthernRetro.com project, wonder who of you will be next?

Due to the lack of posting, there are also a lack of pictures from recent outfits. I keep taking the camera along and then completely forgetting about it. I'll just have to get all dressed up again and take some pictures, what a shame, heheh.

Thank you for all your lovely comments while I've been away in lala-land, they mean so much to me and remind me of why I do this blog, and why I shouldn't let it slip. I've been asked for a few tutorials, so while I have some time off over Christmas I shall be posting a handful of hair styling how-to's as well as a few crafty ones. Keep your peepers peeled!

And the best news of all? I've hit the 100+ followers mark in my absence, how amazing!! Thank you to each and every one of you who has stuck by me throughout, and I look forward to a busy blogging future. To mark this grand occasion  I'm putting together a little thank you hamper which I will share with you for the next Give-away competition.

Much Love from Brighton,

L.J.

One Lovely Blog Award!

Many, many thanks to Bruce Partingon-Plans over at Eclectic Ephemera for giving me this award! When I received your comment to let me know about it, you made my day :)

I know this is very long overdue, but welcome to all my new lovely followers! It has been a very interetsing and challenging year, and writing this blog and reading all of your posts has always kept me motivated to keep going and keep creating! Now I have my hands back in working order, I have many plans to jazz this site up, and look forward to hearing what you all think! I'm hoping this year will be a much more constructive one and look forward to sharing it with you :)

So on to the award. As is tradition, I now have to select a further 15 of my favourite blogs to pass this well deserved award onto. Although I may have been a little on the silent front, the follwing ladies, and gents, have been keeping me busy reading their posts, inspiring new projects, and educating me in many ways, and to you I want to say a very very big THANK YOU!

And onto the second part, the 7 facts about me you may not already know:

1. I love painting. I know I've never blogged about it, but I used to paint a hell of a lot. Not so much recently, but am currently working away on something a bit smaller as a present for someone, so I may get back into painting this year after all.

2. I have 2 pet fish: Fish and Ratfink.

3. I'm lactose intollerant, but a chocaholic. This can be problamatic indeed. Chocolate usual wins though.

4. I LOVE boardgames. The Mister and I have games nights on a regular basis, and we've built up a collection of vintage boardgames now, including BP Offshore Oilstrike, Formula 1, Go! and Golf Tiddlewinks.

5. Back in college, I used to be a scary Goth. Evidence below. Needless to say, the parents approve of the Vintage look much more ;)

6. I took ballet classes for 6 years, it's been a veeeery long time though!

7. I love baking, and I make some scrummy Baklava Muffins!

Thank you again and Much Love from Brighton,

L.J.

My very 1st Blog Award!

The beautiful Wendy from The Butterfly Balcony has kindly awarded me with my very first Blog Award! Woop Woop!

Please go pay her a visit, her blog is full of reference material and her own trials of trying out all things vintage. Always an interesting read and one of the blogs I visit the most. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for her next instalment on Vintage Beauty from 'The Modern Girls Beauty Book' from 1938 :)

So, as tradition states, here are 5 things about me you might not know:

1. I too wear glasses. I love my vintage 1940's glasses, but I don't tend to wear them much, so it is very unlikely you will catch me wearing them in any posts, but here's a little peak for those who want to see them:

2. I am a dirty smoker. Yes I am. No excuses, I know it's bad for me, but I do enjoy a Cider in the sunshine with a dirty fag in hand.

3. I burn with Factor 50 sun-cream. Yes, very sensitive skin, and I shall never tan, but I'm pleased with the idea of growing old the graceful way :)

4. I love cheese. Really, really love cheese. It's a bit of an ongoing joke amongst my circle of friends. Whenever I invite them around for dinner, it is guaranteed to include cheese. Most likely in the form of a Cheese Fondue or Raclette. For someone who is supposedly lactose intolerant, I can stuff cheese down my throat til the cows come home (get it, get it?!?) Evidence below:

5. I take Crazy Golf VERY seriously. I think I may have scared the Mister a little the first time I dragged him out to the course along the seafront. On our recent trip to the Isle of Wight, we managed to squeeze in no less than 6 games of Crazy Golf. Love love love!!!

I now get to pick my current top 5 blogs to pass this honour on to :) as Wendy mentioned in her post, you do not have to accept them if you do not wish to, but I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading all your blogs and how much I learn from you all, so thank you thank you thank you!

Thank you all, you brighten up my day every time you post something new and exciting up :)

If you wish, share the love with your top 5 bloggers and pas it on!

Much Love and happy blogging,

L.J.
