Birthday Booting

As mentioned, I spent my Saturday afternoon rummaging through Brighton Racecourse's Boot Sale. Although we turned up quite late, I managed to spot a couple of little trinkets to bring home. Nothing big this time, but in a way that's a good thing, as we're fast running out of space and need a ruddy good clear out!

For 50p, I couldn't leave these cheeky cute 50's wooden coasters behind, how saucey!! My favourite has got to be the middle top; 'please remain seated wwhile the room is in motion' hehe.

Fine yarns for Ladies. Perfect for mending the more delicate items in my wardrobe.

So close to my own name...add an extra M in there...was meant to be!

£2 for all this wool, and 40p for the crochet hooks....never again will I be buying wool off the highstreet again. But now I have to make something in green again, what a shame ;)

And lastly, an unpicker that matches my 1970's Elna machine, and a 'Stop that Run!' stocking and pantyhose repair kit. Amazing.

Now to get started using up all that wool!

Can one have too many sequins?

The Mister was away being all musical on the weekend, and I had some errands to run in town, and obviously had to take the scenic route back home...aka via the Saturday morning market on Upper Gardner Street...of course!

I should not be let loose on a sunny Saturday morning with money in my wallet and time to kill with no Mister to stop me buying things that I really do not need. Good thing the he wasn't there on Saturday then, because he would have had to drag me away kicking and screaming!

So what did I find? Vintage Showgirl Costumes from the West End no less! And oh my god....how many sequins?! I came across three, but could only afford 2....well 2 out of 3 wasn't bad ey?

Having recently become rather good chums with the lovely Jenny of Frantic About Frances underwear fame and had many merry chats about crazy showgirl ideas, I knew exactly who to run to when I found 4 of these beauties. So after uhming and ahing for about 20 mins, I popped into her work to steal her away for a quick break to help me decided if I should or shouldn't indulge. And what happened? We ended up buying matching outfits! The guy who was selling these just so happened to have 4, yes 4 of each! If only we could have thought of a good enough excuse to buy all 4, get together a group of the girls, and make up some silly routine just for the sake of it, haha.

As soon as I got home, I had to try them on. So excuse the crazy messy Saturday morning hair, but I just had to share the glitzy sequined OTT glory of these with you :)

The first is a gold sparkly 3 piece. Bra, skirt and headband. Needs a bit of TLC and some beads sewn back on, but I'll have it back to it's former glory in no time!

(excuse the mass of washing accumulating in the background, we've been away!)

Now any suggestions hairstyle wise I could do with this badboy headband? I'm thinking perhaps 30's waves?

And now we move on to numero 2. Black beauty. So when I picked it up, I thought it was a bog standard leotard. Putting it on though...hello thighs and hips! Jesus, that thing just kept going higher and higher, I have never in my life put something on so incredibly high cut. But oddly, it's actually quite flattering for hippy me. Struggling to think of an occasion to wear this out to though, and I think tights will be called for. However, with the entire bodice covered in sequins, and strings and strings of beads across the bust and front, I think I may have to think up a routine especially ;)

BOOBS!

And a derriere shot to finish it all off;

So, can one have to many sequins? At the bargainous price of £10 a pop, I think not!

Jenny and I are currently in talks to do a little shoot in our matching costumes very soon, more news on that as and when!

Brighton Marina Boot Sale Bargains!

brI think I may have just found the best way to spend £11 on a Sunday Morning in Brighton. By making my way down to the Marina!

Every Sunday, the top floor of the Marina Car Park is turned into an Antiques and Car Boot Sale. People come from all over the place to sell their unwanted bits and bobs, and there are antique furniture dealers who come along on a regular basis too. Although prices are usually a bit higher than your regular Boot Sale, it is definitely worth paying a visit to.

Most times I come away with one or two small bits of clothing or jewellery, but I have come across an amazing Art Deco wardrobe a few weeks back, but no way of getting it home and I didn't have enough money on me at the time : ( alas, it went home with someone else! Lucky Bugger!

Yesterday, however, proved to be the best outing to the market so far! For the pricely sum of £6, I managed to bag 2 pairs of gloves, never worn, 15 pairs of stockings (you heard right, 15!!!), 13 of which were from a vintage multi pack, still in the box, aaaaand.... a replacement fox for the one that got eat by moths. I have named him T.C., after my very first cuddly toy which was also a fox. All from the same stall! They must have bought a job lot of stuff, as they had a pile up to my waist of old costumes and drama props.

A few stalls down, and about to head off as I thought I'd had my fair share of bargains for the day, I walked past something that looked like part of a spaceship...double take....a vintage hood drier!! I have been wanting one of these for ages but have never seen one and only ever found any online, so when the lady told me she wanted just £5 for it, and that it still worked, I had to have it!

I've plugged it in and it does still work, and sounds as much like a spaceship as it looks! A bit of spit and polish, and I think she might turn out to be a real beaut : ) Sadly there was no stand, but I have already briefed Dad and informed him of his next project! Cannot wait to settle down into my seat by the TV with a book, gentle toasting away under my Hood! Maybe a celebratory whiskey will be in order?!

Anyone found anything exciting at a Boot Sale recently?

Much love from Brighton,

Upcoming Boot sale - Brighton Marina Sunday Market

I've gone through my wardrobe and decided I own far too many things that I hardly ever wear, and hopefully someone else might find more joy in them. Also, having just bought a whole load of stuff, I have run out of space and need to clear out a few bits and bobs.

Apart from a selection from my wardrobe, there will also be a load of stuff the Mister will be getting rid of, some bits that might need a bit of repairing, shoes, handbags, even a Picnic set and wicker basket!

If you're in Brighton on Sunday, perhaps for the Marathon, head on over to the Marina bright and early and you will find the Jardin family losing their boot sale verginity. Everything will be rather cheap as I just want other people to enjoy them more than I can! And I know how much more enjoyment you get when you know you got a bargain!

Here's a sneak of what will be on offer:

And here is what will NOT be on offer! I forgot to mention in my last post that my Mum decided to pass these down to me as they were too big for her. After years of drooling over their website, I finally own my very first pair of Miss L Fire shoes : ) they sit up there whenever I'm not wearing them, they are just too pretty to hide away. But they came in a gorgeous box and their own little cary bag. In Love.

See you all Sunday morning from 6.30am!

Much love from Brighton,
