Vintage Caravaning

I have a secret dream of one day doing up the old 70's caravan that's been left neglected on the Mister's Mums drive and hook it up to Tilly the Triumph and spend a few weeks travelling around the British countryside....

And after spending an afternoon a few weekends ago in a middle of a field with lots of fellow classic car lovers, I found myself some inspiration. Check this baby out. It is the blue version of what I imagine will be our brown set, so it matches with our brown Triumph 2500.

I'm hoping for a dry winter so we can get started on it this year, and then start exploring in the spring. I am in love.

I asked the owners if I could pop my head in and take some pictures, but I don't think they were prepared for quite the amount of squeaking and squealing which ensued. I got rather excitable! heh!

The interior was AMAZING. They've collected bits and bobs over the years for the caravan to kit it out, and all they had to do was give it a bloody good clean as the interior was still spotless! I know ours will need a lot more work than just a quick clean. I'd love to have ours like this one one day :)

And just look at this tea set!! I want it I want it now! It's just too cute, matching caravan tea set..whatever next?!

Does anyone else have a hidden love for caravans? Got one hidden away in your backyard? After staying at Vintage Vacations last summer, I think next summer will be the christening of our very own caravan :) Let the travelling begin!

Much Love from a field in Sussex,

Raspberry Print Bargain!

Yesterday, the Mister and I, joined by Charlie Beagle, popped along to the Vintage Pop-Up Fair in Hassocks to see what bargains we could snap up. Mum and Dad tagged along, which was a new but very fun experience!

Mum and I took a Vintage Pattern Cutting class for a few days up in London at the V&A in February, and now Mum is on the hunt for some inspiration for a vintage style dress to make for me (I am a very lucky girl!). More posts on her progress on that, and I also want to show you what sewing projects I've been working on recently!

Anyway, back to the fair and our bargains. I managed to pick up 2 dresses, a mink headband, a 3 piece matching set of suitcases, and a little Beagle figurine.

One of the dresses had a super cute raspberry print, and means I can now clearout a few pieces I don't realyy wear anymore. I love this dress, and it is so comfortable to boot. The lady I bought this from said she has a few more pieces lying around at home and will email me some pictures to see if I'd like any of these too!

Looking a little rained on after taking Charlie out for his walk, but wanted to put it on right away anywyay.

This morning we got up bright and early to take part in a Classic Car Run around Sussex, and took the car out in the sunshine (we were very lucky as it only rained on as we drove home!)

Teamed it up with one of the Mister's jumpers to keep out the cold, and took the opportunity to pose on Tilly to show off the dress, and my bright green petticoat underneath!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend too. Anyone picked up any new treats? Or come across any new Vintage Events you'd recomend?

Much Love from Brighton,

Wheels Day - 2011

Thanks to a tip off from the Mister's Mechanic, we spent today basking in the sunshine at Wheels Day in Aldershot. A bit of a drive, but that's never a problem with Tilly!

We brought along two very good friends of ours, Alex and Gen, taking their car show virginity! The Beagles joined in th fun too, so Tilly really was going to have to prove she'd be up for next years euro road trip.

I'm going to have to keep the posts for the next 2 weeks rather brief  unfortunately, as I've fallen victim to dreaded RSI. My right hand is curently bandaged all the way to my elbow, I've been given painkillers that don't seem to be working, and I've been banned from sewing and typing (alright, a little is allowed!) and realising that trying to rest my arm for 2 weeks is seemingly imposible after just day 2!! However, I will not let it stop me and I thoroughly enjoyed the show today!

On to the show. 1000 cas were expected, along with a load of stalls and even an autojumble! Enough to make everyone happy! There were performers and bands all day, so I would recommend it to anyone who fancies a great day out next year! I'll let you know a bit further in advance about the next ones, would anyone like to go to one too? Anyone know of any classic car shows in your area? Always wanting to know of more : )

It gets a bit picture heavy here, but as my hand is aching already, I think I'll let the pictures do the talking:

Alex found a rather large spanner!

Started off the day exploring the stalls, then made our way around the cars, bikes, and anything in between! It was a little overwhelming and I didnt know where to look at first.

can you spot where the car inside the car is?

Also came across some stock cars...I think it's time to get back down to Arlington for a spot of Banger Racing...yes please!

Came across an interior furninshing place too, but just look at this chair!! Gen and I couldn't resist striking some poses on them, want one please!

This was the first time we have actually been able to park INSIDE the show, as we finally classify to enter and show our first classic, the lovely Tilly Triumph.

Did anyone else go along and get any good pictures?

PS - the weather has been AMAZING the last few days! Bring on the rest of the Weekend!

Much Love from Brighton,

All Systems Go!

Finally, after hours trying to fix it, the laptop is fixed! Woop Woop!

So on to clearing up the major back log of posts I was meant to put up all of last week. Rather compressed as some of these are from 2 weeks ago (bad me).

2 weeks ago it was pay day, which, as always, means a trip down the North Laine. Anyone in Brighton knows this is the hot spot for Vintage, and you can pretty much guarantee that if you go with a shopping list, you will be able to find at least 75% of what was on that list after reaching the end. However, it can become quite costly.

Instead of hitting up the usual places like Beyond Retro and To be Worn Again, I decided to head over to Snoopers Paradise instead, as it had been a while and for once I had a bit of a larger wallet...dangerous territory!

Picked up 2 bra's, having stripped two of the manequins...poor ladies are now starkers!!

One white:

One black:

this one needs a bit of tightening...a little too loose...

did also pick up some rather unsexy knickers too...I thought it a good idea at the time as they are old school suck it all in pants....but after getting them home and trying them on over my usuals...they were a tad big and frumpy and will be joining the pile of vintage to take down to the car boot sale in 2 weeks time....not for me, but maybe someone else?

The Mister spotted this rather lush wrap around top....loved the fact two girls had passed it by because it had a size 14 label on it.....vintage sizes are not the same as modern sizes! Marilyn herself was a size 14 and she was NOT what a size 14 looks like nowadays. Good luck for me! Another little bargain to add to the wardrobe.

Also got another suspender belt as my old one is looking a bit tired.

The same day we popped off to the Pioneer Run, and watched all the old bikes chugging in from London. We've been along a few times before, and I always love the designs, and knowing how passionate the owners are about their bikes. They put a heck of a lot of time and love into them, as you can see!

And to top it all off, the sun shone all day long! What a perfect day for a trip from London to Brighton on a  vintage Motorbike.

Much love from Brighton,
